Laparoscopic Hernia Repair

(Keyhole Hernia Repair)

Repairing a hernia by the keyhole technique is less traumatic than open surgery and leads to a faster less painful recovery. Most hernias can be repaired using this technique. It requires the placement of very small cuts and inserting a mesh to reinforce the weakness. This technique is ideally suited to:

  • Recurrent hernias - where a previous repair has failed
  • Incisional hernias - where a previous wound has opened
  • Double/large hernias - affecting greater areas of the abdominal wall

It has major advantages over the open technique: the pain is low and patients can return to activities very quickly. For a full information leaflet please download the following file. read more
